How Does Climate Change Impact Us?
Many still wonder how exactly climate change impacts us. We are just as much at risk to the dangers of climate change as the animals and planet are.
Agriculture is vital to our survival as a human race. The ability to grow things from the soil is a marvelous privilege, but even that is affected by climate change. EDF.org says that farmers are struggling to keep up with the constantly changing weather patterns (How Climate Change). Crops are now more susceptible to weeds, diseases, and pests. This obviously impacts the ease at which we can farm and produce food.
The warmer air caused by climate change can cause harm to our health. Extreme summer heat in the regions close to the equator experience more heatwaves. This results in more deaths and illness during the summer.
The increasing temperatures of the planet have also caused the freshwater to get warmer. Warmer water makes it easier for bacteria to grow, some being disease-causing bacteria. The extreme weather caused by climate change can cause flooding, which obviously makes transportation within cities difficult or impossible.
While it may not seem obvious, our lives are gradually changing and will continue to do so, all due to climate change. We need to realize what we have done and know that what goes around comes around. Preferably before it’s too late.
